According to Aksyonov, the signing of the MoU is an important event in the development of bilateral relations between Russia and India, and a landmark for Crimea as a new subject of the Russian Federation.

Aksyonov noted that in the light of the creation of a free economic zone, as well as the implementation of the ambitious activities in the framework of the federal target program of peninsula development, Crimea is becoming a Russian centre for investment not only in the energy sector, but also in infrastructure, logistics and many other industries of the economy. In this regard it is vital to optimize development of international interregional cooperation, with particular emphasis on the interaction in the sphere of innovation activity and high technology, science and education, as well as actively involve small and medium business in bilateral contacts.
